How can we help?

Quick answers first. If you’re still stuck, email us and we’ll get back to you.

How do I connect Apple Health?

Open the Health tab at the bottom of the screen and tap Connect Apple Health. Apple then asks which data Storydials may read. Turn on the stats you want (or Turn On All) and tap Allow.

Storydials only reads Health data. It never writes to Apple Health.

Why are some of my stats empty?

For your privacy, Apple doesn’t tell apps when you’ve said no to a type of data. A stat you didn’t allow simply comes back empty, so it can look as if there’s no data.

To check, open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Apps › Storydials, and turn on the stats you want. Then go back to Storydials and tap Refresh from Apple Health.

A stat can also be empty if nothing recorded it today. HRV, resting heart rate and oxygen, for example, usually need an Apple Watch.

Why am I seeing sample numbers?

Until Apple Health is connected, Storydials shows example numbers so you can try every style. The Running and HIIT presets also use example numbers if there’s no matching workout in the last 30 days, and the app tells you when that happens.

Connect Apple Health on the Health tab, or record a workout, and your own numbers replace them.

How does sharing to Instagram work?

Tap Export, choose Sticker (just the dials, transparent) or Story (the full 1080 × 1920 picture), then tap Instagram Story. Instagram opens its story editor with your dials ready to place.

You’ll need the Instagram app installed and signed in. If it doesn’t open, update Instagram and try again, or tap Save to Photos and add the image from your camera roll.

Can I use miles instead of kilometres?

Yes. Tap the settings button in the top-left corner, then choose Distance units: Auto follows your iPhone’s region, or pick Kilometres or Miles. It changes distance, pace, speed and elevation.

Which workout stats can I show?

Any metric your workout recorded: time, duration, calories, steps, distance, pace, speed, average and maximum heart rate, elevation, flights, power, strokes, and effort on iOS 18 or later. Metrics a workout didn’t record are hidden rather than shown as zero.

Is my data private?

Yes. Storydials collects no data and has no accounts or servers. Your Health data and photos never leave your iPhone. Read the privacy policy for the details.
